Robbie Farah Gold Coast bound

Peter Cassidy | 01/12/08 | 0

The Titans are firming as the likely home of Robbie Farah from 2010 with the Tigers hooker set to board a flight to the Gold Coast in the hope of securing an offer.

Farah - whose contract with Wests expires at the end of the 2009 season - is keen to have his future locked in before the season proper gets underway next year and his manager Sam Ayoub admits the Titans are one of two clubs leading the race.

"Robbie and I are flying up late on Tuesday and coming back on Wednesday," Ayoub told Fairfax.

"We'll be talking to [Titans managing director] Michael Searle, [coach] John Cartwright and a few other people at the club, and Robbie will be having a good look around at the club's facilities and the district up there.

"I met with Tigers officials recently and the club is aware that other clubs are showing strong interest in him, and that Robbie wants to see what other options are available before he makes a decision. It will be a very big decision for him."

Should he sign with the NRL's newest franchise, Farah will again link up with former Tigers halfback Scott Prince and backrower Anthony Laffranchi with whom he won a premiership in 2005.

The Titans are also trying to nut out a deal with Storm and Australian hooker Cameron Smith in the hope of signing either Smith or Farah.

"I want to sort my future out before the start of next season," Farah told Fairfax.

"I can't say for sure that will happen but that's my aim. I'd like to settle it and then get on with my football.

"The next three or four years are going to be the most crucial of my career, in terms of realising my goals.

"I'm a Tigers junior and I've always said I would love to finish my career as a one-club player, but it's not always easy for things to work out that way.

"The Tigers know I'm going to be talking to other clubs. I've established myself as a first-grader here and I've had good times at the club.

"I'll certainly go back to discuss the future with the club and see what they've got to offer before I make a decision. It might turn out that I stay but the decision I'll be making is the one I believe will be the best for me. I've got to look at all the pros and cons and go from there."

I want to sort my future out before the start of next season... Robbie Farah

Friend has established himself as their No. 1 Hooker
It goes to show you that not only player loyalty is under scrutinty but
club loyalty is also in question. It looks like the titans are quite willing to shun one of their better players for someone who is most likely in it for the large pay packet!! Posted by: Anthony Tassone, Hornsby, Australia Reply
