Wests Tigers backrower Gareth Ellis has been charged with tripping but is still free to play in Sunday's NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters. Ellis caught Matt Orford with his foot in a clumsy attempt to tackle the Manly captain at the Sydney Football Stadium on Monday night, and was duly charged with grade one tripping. The offence carries only a 90-point penalty, while an early guilty plea would reduce that to 67 points. Ellis has until midday on Wednesday to enter a plea. The three players charged on Monday - St George Illawarra's Jamie Soward, South Sydney's Chris Sandow and Brisbane's Dave Taylor - all entered early guilty pleas on Tuesday and are clear to play this weekend.
